Watch free movies online, legally

Seven licensed services where US viewers can watch full movies for free today, plus two that are free with a library card.

You don't need FMovies or a pirate site to watch movies for free. Several large, licensed services in the US stream thousands of films at no cost, paid for by ads or by your public library.

How free streaming sites make money

Ad-supported services license films from studios and play short commercial breaks, much like broadcast TV. That is the difference from pirate sites: the studios get paid, so the catalog is legal and the ads are standard video ads rather than pop-ups and redirects.

What you won't find free

Brand-new releases, such as films still in theaters, are almost never free. Those first come to digital rental, then to a subscription service. Each title page on FFMovies shows that release window, so you know when to check back.
